Chainsaw Man Story
New to the Chainsaw Man world?
The story begins with Denji, a young boy who dreams of escaping extreme poverty and the debt left to him by his dead father.
He forms a contract with a cute dog-like creature named Pochita – a Chainsaw Devil. The seemingly harmless pet promises to help Denji become a Devil Hunter so that he may make enough money to one day pay back his enormous debt and lead an average life.
His life becomes anything but ordinary when he transforms into the half-devil Chainsaw Man and is recruited by a woman named Makima to work for the Public Safety Division to exterminate other Devils in the world.
Alongside other Devil Hunters, Denji begins to see the horror and chaos caused by Devils and humans alike.
The manga is known for its erratic, fast-paced storytelling and brutal action sequences. It won the Shogakukan Manga Award in 2021 for Best Shonen and Best Manga at the 2021 Harvey Awards.
As of 2022, Chainsaw Man has over 13 million volumes in circulation, and that number is still growing.
Chainsaw Man News
New and old fans of the series have much to look forward to in the future of Chainsaw Man.
The first manga arc concluded in December 2020, but fans were surprised by the announcement of a second arc.
Fans waited for the continuation of the story and were finally rewarded when the new “School Arc” began publication in July 2022. A direct continuation of the original series, Denji has a new life in high school.
The initially published chapters of the “School Arc” feature a new protagonist, Asa Mitaka, as she enters a contract with the War Devil. New chapters are published online weekly via the Shueisha Shonen Jump+ website and app.
Outside of anime and manga, Chainsaw Man had newfound fame with an unusual collaboration.
The luxury Japanese jewelry brand Tasaki announced a collection based on the series in 2022. The promotional material for the jewelry collection featured illustrations from the creator, Fujimoto, himself.
Tasaki produced various designs inspired by the characters – including Denji, Power, and Pochita!
The prices reflected the luxurious quality, with the lowest cost design starting at around 187,000 JPY! The pieces, only available in-person from Tasaki stores in Japan, were released in June 2022.
