Dark Gathering Trailer

The first PV was released on November 10, 2022. Through the one-minute clips, we can see the banger quality of the adaptation.

As usual, we are provided with the background of the story of the anime. When the story turns to climax, we can hear a good quality sound effect in the form of scream.

Though it’s not unusual that the release version will be different from the promotional video, we can expect a great adaptation from this horror adaptation.

It also helps that OLM will be the one who handles the production of this anime. Lately, they are at the peak of their performance by producing a list of trending anime such as Summertime Render, Nagatoro-san, and Komi-san, moreover this studio is the home of the ever-aging Pokemon series.

Looking at the lineup of the staff, we have Hiroshi Ikehata (Tonikaku Kawaii) as the director. Shigeru Murakoshi (Zombieland Saga) will handle the series composition.

The character design will be drawn by Shinya Segawa (Pastel Memories) with the supervision of Taijirou Osada (Fantasy Bishoujo Juniku Ojisan to) as the art director. We can expect the use of 3D animation because Takahiro Uezono (Attack on Titan: The Final) will be the 3D director for the series.

The sound we hear in the PV is directed by Kouhei Yoshida (Lycoris Recoil), while the music will be handled by three different staff; Kohta Yamamoto (86), Shun Narita (Noblesse), and Yusuke Ceo (SAO: Gun Gale Online).

With that kind of experienced staff lineup, we can expect amazing adaptation down the road.

Dark Gathering Story

The story follows Keitarou Gentouga, a youth who has a knack to attract spirits. Because of his condition, his friend gets caught in the crossfire when he gets into a spiritual accident.

That causes him to become a shut-in for two years. Lucky for him, he has a helpful childhood friend, Eiko Houzuki, who supports him and encourages him to see the sun again.

As a part of rehabilitation, he accepts a part-time job becoming the tutor for Eiko’s cousin, Yayoi Houzuki. It turns out that Yayoi has a spiritual constitution like Keitarou. In contrast to Keitarou, she wants to meet the spirits.

The reason is to find the evil spirit who snatch her mother’s soul in a past traffic accident. Slowly, Keitarou is dragged along by Yayoi and Eiko into haunting spots. His part-time job is slowly drifted away from its original purpose.

Can he helps Yayoi find the evil spirit even though he hates mingled with spirits?
