The Legendary Hero is Dead! Story

Far to the north, there lies Hell’s gate. It is a portal used by demons to invade the human world.

Thanks to the effort of the Shion Bladearts the hero, the portal was sealed. Thus peace is achieved.

Unfortunately, the seal is broken because it is not complete. A horde of demons come out from the portal once again and start over their invasion.

The attack even reaches as far as the village in the far south. Preparing for the attack, Touka, a villager who has a knee sock fetish, prepares pitfalls around his residence.

When a demon attacks the village, the hero comes to save the day. He goes around helping humans fight demons before resealing Hell’s gate again.

Or that is the objective before Shion falls into Touka’s pitfall and ends up dead. Touka doesn’t want to take the blame and blackmail the entire village to pretend that hero never comes to the village.

Unknown to him, the hero’s companion, Anri Heynesworth, observes the entire tragedy and decides to force Touka’s soul into Shion’s body.

Threatened by Anri, Touka must reseal Hell’s gate in Shion’s place. Doesn’t want to be left out, Touka’s childhood friend, Yuna Eunice, wants to tag along.

The mismatch party begins a journey to save the world. Can they reseal Hell’s gate?

The Legendary Hero is Dead! News

The Legendary Hero is Dead!, Yusha ga shinda! Murabito no ore ga hotta otoshina ni yusha ga ochita kekka in Japanese or The legendary hero is dead! The result of the hero falling into the pitfall I dug as a villager in English, is a Japanese manga created by Subaruichi.

It began the serialization from December 2014 to December 2020. The manga was released on Shogakukan’s Ura Sunday website and the MangaONE app.

It has 202 chapters which are compiled into twenty volumes of the manga. The release of the print version spans six years from May 2015 to March 2021.

Shogakukan Asia licensed the English version of the manga. Unfortunately, it is only available in Southeast Asia. Moreover, the latest manga release is the eighth volume which was released back in July 2018.

There is no official reason why they don’t continue the series. But a low sale is supposed to be the main reason.

Though this series somehow avoids the spotlight for years, fans still rate the ending as enjoyable.

The sequel was also released in May 2022 via the MangaONE app and follows the post-story after the ending of the original manga. The sequel announcement was made just a week before the anime adaptation notice.

Can this ecchi-comedy series become successful and achieve full adaptation or just a tool for Liden Films to make a quick buck? Let’s wait for the next spring of 2023!
