After finishing the “prelude” arc in the first eight episodes, Arknights gets greenlit for the second season.

When a skirmish between Rhodes Island and Reunion ends, Amiya is reminded once again how naïve she is. Even after successfully terminating one of the Reunion’s executives, she can’t steel her heart to accept that the bloodshed is necessary for achieving her purpose.

Despite that, she has to keep walking forward for the sake of her friends. The new curtain of conflict opens in the next season of Arknights.

Arknights: Perish in Frost Release Date

The first season of anime was announced on Hypergryph’s Arknight official Twitter account on October 24, 2021. The only information was only the title of the first season, Prelude of Dawn, and its studio, Yostar Pictures.

Later, they announced the list of staff and cast members in the second-anniversary live-stream event in January 2022. A few months later, they revealed the broadcast schedule on September 24, 2022, mentioning that the anime would be aired on October 28, 2022.

The second season was confirmed at the last scene of the finale. It mentioned the second season will have a title, Arknights: Perish in Frost.

Nothing can be found other than Yostar Pictures is once again responsible for creating the anime. It also mentioned that the cast is the same as in the first season.

Looking at the first season, Arknights: Perish in Frost is estimated to premiere somewhere in 2024.

Unfortunately, the third-anniversary live-stream in January 2023 didn’t reveal any information regarding the second season of the anime. Maybe we can wait for the news in the upcoming fourth-anniversary of the Chinese server in about a month.

The announcement was made on December 16, 2022, at the same time as the finale was aired. Later, they also posted the video through their official Twitter account.

Nothing can be found from that nine-second clip other than the fact that the second season of Arknight is under construction.

The discovery of black crystal is advancing the technology in the world of Terra. This miracle mineral is usually found in the center of catastrophe caused by the power of the crystal.

Not only affecting the surrounding environment, unknown to the public, this black gem is also the source of an incurable disease. The one who makes a contact for a long period of time is having a high risk of getting infected with Oripathy.

Aside from being incurable, this disease is also highly contagious. That’s why the discrimination against the infected is getting worse over the years.

These exiled individuals are grouped together making an organization called Reunion. This group acts as a rebel faction that destroys cities, further making the world worse than already is.

On the other hand, there is a pharmaceutical company called Rhodes Island that tries to find a cure for Oripathy. The organization consists of both infected and uninfected working together without sheer discrimination.

Regarded as the most advanced in its research in finding an Oripathy cure, they are like a beacon of hope in the disastrous world of Terra. Unfortunately, their research progress halts because their key figure, the doctor, is having amnesia.

Can they find a way to recover the doctor’s memory and find a cure for Oripathy?

Arknights is a tactical tower defense game launched on May 1, 2019, in China. Later, they also expand to the global server on January 16, 2022. It is available on Android and iOS platforms and features gacha game mechanics.

The popularity of the game is still going strong since the first day of launch. It is also supported by the fact that the game never earns less than two million dollars in revenue each month across servers.

Reportedly, Arknights raked up to 510 million in revenue in 2020. A year later, they had 455 million USD, and they earn about 400 million USD in 2022. In terms of game revenue, they earn lower and lower by year but they can still stand as one giant of mobile gacha games.

As for the anime, they sold its Blu-Ray version 5163 copies in its first 5 days, grossing 114 million yen (855 thousand USD) in sales. This may be one factor that this anime will get the second season.

There is a spin-off game, Arknights: Endfield, which is still under construction for PC and mobile. The announcement was made in March 2022. Yet, no new information has been released since.
