Fate series never ends. After we go to the multiverse in Fate/Grand Order, we come back to Fate/Zero universe once again. Now, it is time for the false Holy Grail war to be animated!
After a thorough delaying process, we are set to watch Fate/strange Fake: Whispers of Dawn in the summer of 2023.

Fate/strange Fake was first announced on September 24, 2022, at Aniplex Online Fest 2022. At the same time, they launched the official website revealing the main staff, cast, a teaser visual, and PV.
The anime is considered a special episode which means it will only have 50 minutes-ish. That may be the reason this anime was planned to debut on December 31, 2022.
But, the shocking news was published on the official website on December 7, 2022. It turned out that the anime was postponed due to a production delay.
There was no news aside from that for weeks until the, supposed, broadcast schedule. The official website once again published a list of information on December 31, 2022.
It states that the anime is set to premiere in the summer of 2023. As an apology, the staff released a 6-minute sneak peek to quench the thirst of the fans.
Fate/Strange Fake: Whispers of Dawn Trailer
This special sneak peek video was released on December 31, 2022. It is treated as compensation for delaying the anime.
It shows the summoning ritual of the famous servants from the previous series, Gilgamesh. There are also other servants displayed in the video such as Jack the Ripper and Enkidu.
The sneak peek ends with a mighty clash of Gilgamesh and Enkidu’s Noble Phantasm, Enuma Elish.
Shun Enokido and Takahito Sakazume are directing the anime at A-1 Pictures. Daisuke Oohigashi is handling the script, while Yuukei Yamada is drawing the character design.
Masanori Tsuchiya is working as the sound director and Hiroyuki is composing the music.
Because it is a special episode, there is no opening/ending song. But, we have a theme song created by SawanoHiroyuki[nZk]:Laco entitled “FAKEit”.

In a Holy Grail war, Mages (Master) and Heroes (Servant) fight for control of the Holy Grail – an omnipotent device that said can grant any wish the winner desires.
After the third Holy Grail War, a group of Magi from the US separates themselves from a London-based magi organization. Using the data from the previous war, they plan to create another Holy Grail war.
After seventy years, they use a city, Snowfield, as the battleground. Because they are unable to perfectly copy the previous ritual, the current Holy Grail war becomes faulty.
Impossible summoning servants, missing Saber class, and other irregularities present due to the definition of “heroes” being blurred.
Let the curtain rise on the stage made by the false Holy Grail.
Fate/Strange Fake: Whispers of Dawn News
Fate/strange Fake is a Japanese light novel created by Ryohgo Narita. It was started as April Fool’s joke published by Narita on his website in 2008. Then, the short story was published later in Type-Moon Ace 2 magazine in 2009.
But, it took years before the first volume of the light novel was published. The first volume was released in 2015. As of February 2023, there is a total of eight volumes being sold.
A year after its light novel release, the manga version was published by Type-Moon Books. The latest fifth volume was published in February 2022.
In 2019, A-1 Pictures animated a commercial for the light novel series. The director, composer, and character designer are coming back for the Whispers of Dawn. It’s duly noted that the director also worked on most of the Fate/Grand Order animated commercials.
The anime was hinted at on September 22, 2022, when Aniplex posted on Twitter featuring Sally Amaki. She teased that the next big announcement was related to the series that had released several anime series in the past with the keyword “April Fool”.
The anime adaptation was announced two days later on September 24, 2022. It is the first Type-Moon anime that is confirmed to have a simultaneous English dub release.
