Studio Deen is relentlessly dedicated to bringing Orphen to modern audiences as they once again conjure the badass sorcerer for a third season that will debut on January 18, 2023.
The staff of the revamped anime released a new video on December 7, 2022, that revealed the new season’s premiere date, theme songs, and more cast members.
The magic prodigy and reluctant overpowered MC will resume his journey after Sorcerous Stabber Orphen season 3 was confirmed by the anime’s official website last September 26, 2022.
The initial announcement also came with the official title of the 3rd season, Sorcerous Stabber Orphen: Chaos in Urbanrama, as well as a teaser PV and a teaser visual.
Despite the setback of criticisms during the reboot’s first two seasons, Studio Deen hopes to overturn that and make new viewers see Orphen in a different light in this next installment.

Sorcerous Stabber Orphen Season 3 Trailer
Apart from the awaited premiere date, this new Sorcerous Stabber Orphen promotional video released on December 7, 2022, showed new scenes and other major details.
The one that stands out among these is the reveal of new characters.
New cast members include Junya Enoki as Ryan; Takuya Eguchi as Halpert; Kana Hanazawa as Eris; and Mariya Ise as Shiina.
Showtaro Morikubo, who voiced both the 90s and current Orphen, composed, wrote, and performed the opening song, “Hysteric Caravan.”
The ending theme, “Fantastic Partner,” was sung by the dwarf character Dortin’s voice actress Mai Fuchigami.
Two additional cast members were also announced on December 16, 2022, namely Taiten Kusunoki as Damian and Aina Aiba as Winona.
On September 26, 2022, the first teaser PV released revealed the title and story arc of the second season as Sorcerous Stabber Orphen: Chaos in Urbanrama, which gave light novel fans a clue of what’s happening next in Orphen’s story.
Apart from these details, the PV also unveiled two new characters, Ed and Lottecia, which Daisuke Ono and Shiki Aoki, respectively, voiced.
Returning for the third season was director Takayuki Hamana, along with most of the staff. In addition, new faces on the team were Kenji Konuta for series composition and CG director Shinsuke Ōshima.
As described in this e-book for Sorcerous Stabber Orphen: The Wayward Journey Volume 14, which is the arc this new season is based on, this new character will give Orphen quite a headache.
The description reads: “Arriving in Urbanrama, Orphen’s problems keep piling up. Lottecia vanishes into the night with Claiomh’s sword, and Orphen’s suspicions about Ed’s identity are confirmed. To make things worse, Ryan and Halpert return, and their target is Leki!”
Sorcerous Stabber Orphen Story
Krylancelo Firandi is a promising young prodigy attending the famed sorcery academy, Tower of Fangs.
He has a close relationship with Azalie Cait-Sith, another prodigy he grew up with in an orphanage. Their shared origins lead Krylancelo to think of Azalie as his sister.
One day, Azalie conducts a magic experiment that goes horribly wrong, changing her into an evil dragon.
The elders at the Tower choose to protect themselves and preserve their reputation, driving off Azalie and covering up the incident.
An enraged Krylancelo abandons the Tower and searches for Azalie on his own. He changes his name to “Orphen” and vows to revert Azalie to her old self.
Five years later, when he is spending his time lending money in the back streets of Totokanta, Orphen meets dragon-form Azalie again.
Now, Orphen finds himself running out of time.
His former teachers and friends are chasing Azalie from the Tower, and he still doesn’t know how to transform his foster sister back to normal.
The word ‘Stabber’ in the title refers to a type of sorcerer trained to assassinate other sorcerers using deadly unconventional techniques, which Orphen was taught to do as a child.
Orphen is actually more than just a gifted sorcerer. He is properly overpowered.
He might be a rude black sorcerer, but Orphen is also a reluctant hero; more often than not, preferring not to use his real abilities.
Sorcerous Stabber Orphen News
Orphen’s story started as Sorcerous Stabber Orphen: The Wayward Journey, a series of light novels written by Yoshinobu Akita with illustrations from Yuuya Kusaka.
Fujimi Shobo first published these novels between 1994 and 2003, generating two-season anime series, manga adaptations, and even a video game.
Yoshinobu later created a collection of side stories of Orphen’s journey called Sorcerous Stabber Orphen: The Reckless Journey.
J.C.Staff, in partnership with Kadokawa Shoten, animated the first TV series based on Sorcerous Stabber Orphen in 1998. A sequel called Sorcerous Stabber Orphen 2: Revenge spawned the following year.
A new Orphen TV adaptation was announced in 2018 to commemorate the 25th year since the release of the original novels.
Studio Deen released the rebooted Orphen anime in 2020, immediately followed by the second season of Sorcerous Stabber Orphen: Battle of Kimluck.
In 2000, Kadokawa Shoten published a single-player console role-playing video game for the Playstation 2 called Orphen: Scion of Sorcery (Sorcerous Stabber Orphen in Japan).
The game’s lore was based on the original novel series by Yoshinobu.
