The official website of Girlfriend, Girlfriend announced the second season of the series on September 26, 2022.
At the same time, Hiroyuki, the mangaka of Girlfriend, Girlfriend also announced the second anime on his Twitter account.
Hiroyuki revealed the announcement with a countdown featuring the four main girls. He started to post it four days before the announcement of the second season.
The official release date has not been announced yet. But it is estimated to come in the summer of 2022. This article will be updated after the release date is released.

The first season opening was sung by Necry Talkie entitled “Fuzuketenai ze.” Momo Asakura sang the ending of the series entitled “Pinky Hook.”
Even though the teaser has not been released yet, they have released the visual animation for Girlfriend, Girlfriend on September 9, 2022.
The same art as the first season is shown, indicating that Tezuka Productions is still in charge of the second season.

The story tells about Naoya Mukai, a sincere and gullible high school student. He recently started dating his childhood friend, Saki Saki.
Surprisingly, Nagisa Minase, his classmate, also confesses his feeling to Naoya. Knowing the effort Nagisa made for months before confession, Naoya decides to accept the confession.
A new problem arises. How does he convince Saki to allow him to two-time her? Being as straightforward as he is, he just says it in front of Saki.
Sure enough, Saki rejects and punches him. But she is madly in love with Naoya, so the idea of breaking up doesn’t come to her mind.
In the end, she accepts Nagisa as Naoya’s second girlfriend. The rom-com featuring these three individuals begins.

Girlfriend, Girlfriend (Kanojo mo Kanojo in Japanese) is an anime adaptation based on the manga of the same name by Hiroyuki.
Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine began the serialization of the manga in March 2020. Then, the manga chapter was compiled into tankoubon in June 2020. The 13th volume was released on November 17, 2022.
Kodansha USA digitally licensed the manga in February 2021 for North America. The first volume was released on April 6, 2021.
The first season of Girlfriend, Girlfriend was announced in November 2020, at the same time as the release of the third volume of the manga.
Tezuka Production handled the production of this series. It started to air from July 2021, to September 2021. Twelve episodes of Girlfriend, Girlfriend entered the roster of the 2021 summer anime.
Crunchyroll licensed the series outside of Asia. Meanwhile, Muse Communication has the right to air it in South and Southeast Asia. They use several platforms to stream the show, such as YouTube, iQYI, and Bilibili.
Crunchyroll announced the English dub version on August 9, 2022. It was also released at the same time as the announcement was made.
The series is actually has shuffled its original voice actors. The PV for the manga was released on October 2020. Ayane Taketatsu filled the role of Saki Saki, and Ayane Sakura voiced Nagisa Minase.
But they got different roles when the official anime teaser was released on March 28, 2021. Ayane Taketatsu ended up voicing Rika Hoshizaki, and Ayane Sakura voiced Saki Saki. Meanwhile, Azumi Waki substituted Ayane Sakura for voicing Nagisa Amane.
It is also the fourth manga by Hiroyuki which has gotten an anime adaptation. The other mangaka’s other works that have made it into animation: Dojin Work (2007), The Comic Artist and His Assistants (2014), and Aho-Girl (2017).
