Following the airing of the final episode of season 2, fans rejoiced at the announcement of Season 3 of the rom-com anime series Rent-A-Girlfriend.
On September 17, 2022, its renewal was announced through the official Japanese website and Twitter page of the series.
TMS Entertainment, the animation studio behind the anime adaptation of popular series such as Detective Conan and Lupin III, will still be the production team for Rent-A-Girlfriend Season 3.

Rent-A-Girlfriend Story
Rent-A-Girlfriend tells the story of Kazuya Kinoshita, who was heartbroken after being dumped by his girlfriend of one month, Mami Nanami.
He resorts to an online dating app where she rents a girlfriend named Chizuru Mizuhara, a kind, beautiful girl.
He felt like she was too good to be true and gave her a low rating in the app. After finding this out, Chizuru berates him and reveals her true character, a meaner college girl than he expected.
A surprising turn of events resulted in Kazuya continuing to rent Chizuru as his pretend girlfriend in front of his family and friends.
However, Chizuru discovered that her client is her next-door neighbor and schoolmate.
Things get complicated when more rental girlfriends show interest in Kazuya.
In the series’ second season, Chizuru quits her job and pursues her passion for acting. Kazuya supports her in accomplishing her dream and commits to renting her every week to help her financially.
Having failed multiple auditions and unable to fulfill the wish of her dying grandmother, who was a top star, Chizuru loses hope that she will become a lead actress.
In a heartwarming effort of Kazuya, he starts a crowdfunding initiative for her and encourages Chizuru to make a movie together to show her grandmother.
But with more girlfriends lingering around him, Kazuya will have difficulties focusing on his promise to Chizuru.
Rent-A-Girlfriend Season 3 News
Based on the well-loved manga of the same name written and illustrated by Reiji Miyajima, the rom-com series debuted on television in July 2020, with its sequel airing in July 2022.
Its popularity after the first and second seasons premiered managed to sell more than ten million copies of the manga worldwide.
It was also adapted into a live drama action that ran from July to September 2022.
While the manga recorded excellent sales, the renewal of the anime was still unexpected, given the criticisms for its first two seasons.
Nonetheless, with the availability of source material from the original manga series, it was easy for the production team to create more sequels for its anime adaptation.
The upcoming Season 3 is expected to pick up where Season 2 had left off. The third season will be around chapter 104, volume 13 of the manga, where the Rental Girlfriend’s Dream Arc is.
Kazuya and Chizuru will make a film to fulfill her dying grandmother’s wish – to see Chizuru accomplish her dream of becoming a well-known star before it’s too late.
