The Seven Deadly Sins: Four Knights of the Apocalypse has already been released!

After a roller coaster ride of the Seven Deadly Sins anime ends, the sequel was announced a year later on May 2022. The sequel comes with a brand new set of producers after, arguably, a bad final season of the Seven Deadly Sins.

Put aside the anime version, the hype of Seven Deadly Sins manga was actually on top of the chart to the point that Nakaba decided to make the sequel in less than a year. With 3.8 million copies sold, it’s no wonder that Four Knight Apocalypse will be in line for the next adaptation.

On January 25, 2023, the PV was released revealing the broadcast schedule. The anime is set to premiere somewhere in 2023.

Thanks to AnimeJapan 2023 event, the list of information was released altogether. Now, it is confirmed that Four Knights of Apocalypse will premiere in October 2023.

The series will be broadcasted on TBS and its affiliates. Currently, there is no news about streaming services outside Japan picking up the series.

Further information will be updated. Just stay tuned!

The Seven Deadly Sins: Four Knights of the Apocalypse Trailer

The PV was released on March 26, 2023, at AnimeJapan 2023 event. This will be the second trailer that has been released so far.

Compared to the first trailer that was released in January 2023, it lacks the action scene. Though, it is understandable because the main selling point is the character introduction.

Aside from Percival’s cast that was already announced in January, an additional four casts was revealed in the second trailer. They are:

  • Komura Shou as Percival
  • Nakamura Kanna as Anne
  • Toya Kikunosuke as Donny
  • Shimada Aino as Nasiens
  • Uchiyama Kouki as Sin

Kodaira Maki (Pokemon 2019) is directing the series at Telecom Animation Film. Shigeru Murakoshi (Zombie Land Saga, Kakegurui) is overseeing and writing the script, while the character design is drawn by Youichi Takada (Animation Director at Lupin III).

Hiroyuki Sawano and Kohta Yamamoto (Attack on Titan: The Final) will work together to compose the main theme. Not only the main theme, but Yamamoto is also responsible for composing the music.

The Seven Deadly Sins: Four Knights of the Apocalypse Story

Percival always lives in solitude with his grandfather on top of a sky-piercing mountain called God’s Finger. While he appears to love his simple life, he actually longs for adventure.

But one day, a knight rowing on top of clouds comes close to his residence. The knight asks where his grandfather is and Percival gullibly guides him. Not knowing that this single knight will tear everything he has.

The knight and his grandfather start to clash their sword as soon as they are in sight. Alas, the knight’s power is far stronger than his grandfather’s. In the end, his grandfather ends up dying.

After accomplishing his mission the knight leaves the scene. Percival who gets battered after trying to help runs to his grandfather. Before his last breath, he reveals that the knight who just got here is actually Percival’s biological father.

With nothing to do, he plans to chase down his father to ask why he did all of that. During his journey, the sheltered boy realizes that there are many things he doesn’t know about normal life. Luckily, he meets friends during the journey.

Slow and steady, he finds the truth about the prophet related to him which possibly leads to the end of the world.

The Seven Deadly Sins: Four Knights of the Apocalypse News

Four Knights of Apocalypse which is the sequel to the popular Seven Deadly Sins series is a Japanese manga created by Nakaba Suzuki. It began its serialization in January 2021 in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine.

As of March 2023, the chapters have been compiled into eleven volumes of manga with the latest being released on March 16, 2023.

Kodansha USA licensed the series for North America. They released it digitally weekly on multiple platforms, including Crunchyroll Manga, BookWalker, ComiXology, and Amazon Kindle.

Kodansha has published the first printed version on January 25, 2022. There are seven volumes of manga that have been published as of February 2023.

Though they still fall short of Japan’s print release, they already have the plan to release three volumes which span from May to November 2023.

The two-part film, The Seven Deadly Sins: Grudge of Edinburgh, was released as a prequel to the series. It is based on an original story depicting the story of the son of former the Seven Deadly Sins member, Tristan.

The film is created by Netflix which means, like other Netflix originals, the use of CGI is very heavy. Though some fans’ expectation is low before the premiere of the film, it turns out that most fans said that it’s actually not that bad.

With the first film ending on a cliffhanger, the second part will air on August 2023. Exactly two months before the Four Knights of Apocalypse premiere.
