The series Made in Abyss, created by Akihito Tsukushi, is set in a world filled with danger and mystery. The citizens of the area live on top of a giant crater that people descend into what they call the “Abyss.”

The Abyss is home to a gone-by era filled with many artifacts and treasures. Cave Raiders undertake dangerous quests to descend into the Abyss and find rare artifacts.

But, the deeper they go, the scarier the effects – the Cave Raiders that return become cursed and have bad things happen to them.

A little orphan girl named Riko lives in the town of the Abyss and dreams of descending into the Abyss like her mother before her.

Riko finds her mother’s recordings of her journeys into the Abyss and believes her mother might still be alive at the bottom.

And so, Riko enters the Abyss with a mission: to find her mother.
