The Demon Sword Master of Excalibur Academy has already been released!

The Demon Sword Master of Excalibur Academy was confirmed to have an anime adaptation back in October 2021. Unfortunately, it takes more than a year to hear further information related to anime.

Meanwhile, the light novel has released 4 other volumes before the additional information about the studio and cast was lifted on February 24, 2023. The main cast includes:

  • Marina Inoue as Leonis Death Magnus
  • Yui Ishikawa as Riselia Ray Crystalia
  • Aya Suzaki as Regina Mercedes
  • Hiromi Igarashi as Elfine Phillet
  • Honoka Kuroki as Sakuya Sieglinde
  • Arisa Nakada as Shary

At AnimeJapan 2023 which was held on March 25, 2023, the TV anime revealed the main staff as well as the first PV of the anime.

Unfortunately, the premiere date has yet to be announced. It is estimated that the anime will air in late 2023 or early 2024.

The article will be updated after the said event is held! Just stay tuned.

The Demon Sword Master of Excalibur Academy Trailer

The first PV was released on March 25, 2023. It was revealed at AnimeJapan 2023 event that was held on the same day.

The PV shows the first act of the anime. We can see two versions of Leo who was a skeleton and is now a boy after a thousand-year slumber.

Though it is only 1 minute, we have an insight that the anime has an arguably high standard. Based on the PV, the popular use of CGI is set to a minimum. The only notable CGI is the vehicle they use in the last 10 seconds.

While the anime is confirmed to have an ecchi genre, surprisingly the PV doesn’t show the bare skin of any character like other ecchi anime. Instead, we can hear Leo’s moan in the last two seconds before the PV ends.

Fortunately, the PV also mentions several staff who will work on this project, though many positions still remain a mystery.

Hiroyuki Morita (Bokura No) will direct this anime at Passione (Rokka: Braves of the Six Flowers). The character design is drawn by Takayuki Noguchi (Higehiro).

Hisayoshi (Interspecies Reviewers) will be the sound director, while Yuuji Nomi (Nichijou) will handle the music.

The Demon Sword Master of Excalibur Academy Story

One thousand years ago, the age of chaos burned the entire continent. The fight between the six dark lords against the six heroes raged for years.

The human’s future seemed bright when the dark lords fell one by one. The one remaining dark lord, the Undead King, Leonis Death Magnus, also fell when his capital of death, Necrozoa, was conquered.

But no one on the human side knew that he actually sealed himself in the deepest chamber. With the last prophecy from the Goddess of Rebellion, he promised that he would conquer humanity after one thousand years.

In the present time, the old civilization becomes ruins filled by the new enemy of humanity, Void. With a new threat in sight, humanity is bestowed a new unique skill by the world, Holy Weapon.

Alas, the threat of Void is so great that the world becomes ruined once more. The leftover humanity creates giant mobile islands and lives on them. Inside each island, there is an academy that nurtures the young generation of Holy Weapon wielders. It is called Excalibur Academy.

By chance, Riselia, a student from the academy, stumbles upon the old ruin of Necrozoa in the scout mission. There, she meets Leonis who just awakens from a thousand years’ slumber.

Surprisingly, Leonis wakes up in the body of a 10-year-old boy! With Riselia’s patronage, he enrolls in Excalibur Academy. After hearing about the state of humanity, he is determined to uncover the mysteries of this strange era. Could the Void relate to Leonis’ past?

The Demon Sword Master of Excalibur Academy News

The Demon Sword Master of Excalibur Academy, Seiken Gakuin no Makentsukai in Japanese, is a Japanese light novel written by Yu Shimizu and illustrated by Asagi Tosaka.

The light novel was first released on May 2019 by Media Factory under their MF Bunko J imprint. Now, there are 11 volumes in circulation with the 12th volume will be released on March 25, 2023.

Yen Press licensed the light novel for North America. They have released seven volumes in English. In total, the light novel has sold over 350 thousand copies worldwide as of April 2021.

With the successful sale, it got its manga adaptation in November 2019. Asuka Keigen began serialization in Kadowaka Shoten’s Monthly Shonen Ace. There are 5 volumes so far and the sixth volume will be released at the same time as the release of the 12th volume of the light novel.

Before writing this light novel, Yu Shimizu also wrote the same school-fantasy novel, Blade Dance of Elementalers back in 2010. The series ended in March 2019, two months before Demon Sword Master of Excalibur Academy was released.

The past series also got its own anime adaptation in 2014. Unfortunately, the adaptation didn’t go well and stopped after only 12 episodes.

With that track record, will the Demon Sword Master of Excalibur Academy follow its predecessor step and meet an abrupt end or get success and have a renewal for the second season?
