Love Live! Nijigasaki comes to the theater this 2023! Here is everything we know so far about Love Live! Nijigasaki the Movie release date and news.

Good news comes from Love Live! franchise, Nijigasaki High School Idol Club will head to the theater in 2023.

It is actually not that surprising because the last two predecessors, µ’s and Aqours, also have the same format. They have two seasons of TV animation and end it with a movie.

Considering the usual mold, maybe it’s time the entire group of Nijigasaki go abroad and have a concert outside Japan. Just for a reminder, u’s goes to New York while Aqours goes to Italy. Maybe they will visit Ayumu in England?

Love Live! Nijigasaki the Movie (OVA) has already been released!

Just four months after the conclusion of the second season, Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club announced the next sequel. It was revealed during a live stream on November 24, 2022.

The stream contains the news of Nijiyon, a spin-off of Nijigasaki, and it also leaked the next project which is OVA follows the story of Ayumu going back to Japan from England.

Many assume that it is a movie because it will hit the theater for a limited time in Japan. But, NO, it is clearly regarded as OVA.

The stage presentation for Love Live! franchise at AnimeJapan 2023 confirmed the exact schedule of the airing. The OVA will get a theatrical screening on June 23, 2023, for four weeks. Later, they will sell the Blu-ray version on August 30.

The event also stated that Koko Hayashi will voice the character Yuki Setsuna because Tomori Kusonoki steps down from her role due to sickness.

The announcement was made on November 1, 2022. It says that she will no longer join the activity of Nijigasaki aside from voicing “Love Live! School Idol Festival ALL STARS” game.

Bad news aside, this OVA could be a new beginning for Love Live! franchise. It is possible that they will break the tradition and announces the third season of Nijigasaki after the release of OVA.

Though, the fourth generation of Love Live!, Love Live! Superstar!!, has broken the second-season wall and gone through the third season already. But it is different considering the third year is missing in Love Live! Superstar!! when the anime started to take off in 2021.

Can Nijigasaki get its third season even if its third year is close to being graduated? Let’s wait for it!

Love Live! Nijigasaki the Movie Trailer

The trailer has explained the storyline related to the OVA, Ayumu, who decided to study in England, comes back to Japan with his foreign friend.

She is curious about what school idol is about. So, it is time for them as veterans in their field to teach her first thing about being an idol.

The entire cast will reprise their role except for Kusonoki Tomori who stops voicing Yuuki Setsuna due to her sickness. The entire cast includes:

  • Maeda Kaori as Ousaka Shizuku

  • Sashide Maria as Verde Emma
  • Koizumi Moeka as Mifune Shioriko
  • Houmoto Akina as Zhong Lanzhu
  • Uchida Shuu as Taylor Mia
  • Koko Hayashi as Setsuna Yuki (New)

It is not confirmed that the staff will reprise their position yet, but we can be sure that Sunrise will be the one who work on this project.

There is also a high chance that Nagasaki Yukio will be the sound director. Considering his track record of handling all of Love Live! franchise from the first generation until the latest spin-off Nijiyon.

Unfortunately, there is no other staff who contributes to the franchise as often as he does. So, the entire staff is still shrouded in mystery.

Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club Story

Nijigasaki High School, located on the island of Odaiba in Tokyo, is popular for its variety of class subjects and freedom is given to students.

Second-year student, Yu Takahashi, has been turned on by the charms of school idols, so she knocks on the door of the “School Idol Club” with her old friend Ayumu Uehara.

Though, they are disappointed to find out that the club is disbanded. Yet, they don’t give up and try to re-create the school idol club from the beginning.

With the help of former members as well as new recruits, they start to take a step toward their dreams, what will await them?

Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club News

Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club is a Japanese multimedia spin-off project from Love Live! series. The storyline of the anime is taken from “Love Live! School Idol Festival ALL STAR” game that was launched back in 2019.

The group was first introduced as “Perfect Dream Project” back in 2017. They were made with a different concept than their predecessor, µ’s and Aqours. Instead of centered on a group idol, it focuses on individual idol who bands together to save their idol club alive.

The first season was aired from October to December 2020, while the second season was aired from April to June 2022.

This group is also the first one who breaks the nine members’ wall among the Love Live! franchise. Additional new members Shioriko, Mia, and Lanzhu join the club in the second season making the first twelve idol formation in the history of Love Live!.

Considering the introduction of Shioriko, Mia, and Lanzhu is only a year or so, we can expect that Nijigasaki will still flourish for years in the future. But what will happen after the story after the graduation of the third year? Let’s wait for the OVA!
