Chained Soldier has already been released!

The adaptation decision was made back on November 19, 2021, when the manga surpassed 1 million views on the online platform, Shounen Jump+.

At the same time, the first 15-second teaser PV was released. It only contained frame by frame manga panel with some information.

It was decided that the main character, Yuuki Wakura, is voiced by Hirose Yuuya, and Kyouka Uzen is voiced by Akari Kito. Seven Arcs, home of Magical Girl Nanoha, will handle the animation. They also make the upcoming rom-com series, Tonikaku Kawaii.

Through their official Twitter account, they announced the release date which is expected to be 2023. Unfortunately, the anime will be delayed until the next year.

At AnimeJapan 2023, the creator of Chained Soldier Takahiro and Yohei Takemura said that the anime is delayed until January 2024.

More information will be updated after the official has released the release date.

Chained Soldier Trailer

The full-animated trailer was released on December 17, 2022. Smooth visual animation is welcomed with open hands by fans. Though, the use of CGI is unexpected.

Given that most anime that use CGI ends up smeared with critics. Can Seven Arcs avoid that? We can only wait.

The series is directed by Gorou Kuji with Junji Nishimura serving as general director. Yasuhiro Nakanishi handles the series composition, while Ryota Kano and Akira Kindaichi write the script. Character design is drawn by Hiroyuki Yoshii and Kohta Yamamoto is in charge of the music.

Because the particular genre of this series is a harem, the population of male-female cast ratio is very imbalanced.

Below is the list of VA in the series:

  • Yuya Hirose as Yuuki Wakura
  • Akari Kito as Kyouka Uzen
  • Yume Miyamoto as Himari Azuma
  • Mari Hino as Shushu Suruga
  • Hina Tachibana as Nei Okawamura
  • Maaya Uchida as Tenka Izumo
  • Nene Hieda asYachiho Azuma
  • Reinca Ueda as Sahara Wakasa
  • Tomori Kusunoki as Aoba Wakura
  • Sayaka Senbongi as Koko Zenibako
  • Rina Hidaka as Naon Yuno

Two famous singers who happen to be in this project, Akari Kito and Maaya Uchida, will provide the opening and ending respectively.

Both of them are seasoned singers so we can have high expectations for the opening and ending of Chained Soldier.

Chained Soldier Story

The world’s gender equality has changed since the alternate world known as “Mato” emerged.

This world contains a new source as “Peaches”. Anyone who consumes this will have supernatural power granted to them.

Unfortunately, only woman gets affected by peaches. That’s why the male standing in the world becomes rock bottom.

The story follows Wakura Yuuki, a regular boy who is great at chores thanks to his older sister’s teaching. He thinks that as a male, he should be skilled enough with multiple chores. This way, maybe he will get a girlfriend who needs him.

Alas, no one notices his talent to do chores. In the end, he gives up and chooses to lead a regular boring life.

Unlucky for him, he gets into Mato when he is going home. His panic button spikes even higher when he encounters Shuuki, an abomination creature from Mato.

While running, he sees a silhouette of a woman riding on top of Shuuki. Equipped in an Anti-demon Corps uniform, he is relieved that his savior has arrived.

But the horde is too much for one soldier, she wants to turn Yuuki into her slave to make her peaches’ power more effective. Facing a do-or-die option, he accepts the term and turns into Shuuki. Together, they completely eradicate the horde of Shuuki.

After the battle, she introduces herself as the chief of the Seventh Unit, Kyouka Uzen.

The girl wants Yuuki to join the Anti-demon corps. He is overjoyed with that offer knowing that his expected boring life will never happen.

Chained Soldier News

Chained Soldier, known as Mato Seihei no Slave in Japanese, is a Japanese serialized manga that was created by Takahiro and illustrated by Yohei Takemura.

The manga was published on Shueisha’s online platform, Shonen Jump+ in January 2019. They already compiled it into 12 volumes of manga with the latest volume being released on January 4, 2023.

The popularity of the manga makes multiple publishers from overseas wants to license it.

Reportedly, there are three licensors which are Yen Press from North America, Kurokawa from France, and Panini Comics from Italy.

With an astounding record of 150 million views in Shounen Jump+ and 1.5 hard copies sold, it is not a surprise that it will be adapted into anime. However, fans raise some concerns regarding how this series turns out.

Knowing the usual pattern of anime with a similar genre, there will be 12/13 episodes in total.

Where is a good breaking point? Many assume that the best stopping point will be chapter 42 or 43. But, can a single cour of anime run that fast without butchering the storyline? Probably not.

All worries aside, fans put high expectations into this anime. Considering the all-star line-up cast as well as experienced staff, let’s hope that this series enters the top list for 2023 anime.

The article will be updated accordingly, just stay tuned!
