Tatsu is back to intimida—ahem… tickle our funny bones, and he’s leading a stacked Winter 2023 release window by debuting right on January 1st.
Netflix announced the good news on December 4, 2022, via their official Anime Twitter account by sharing some new stills from the upcoming second season.
During the Netflix Tudum Japan live-stream event on July 24, 2022, The Way of the Househusband Season 2 was greenlit for production. This was later confirmed and shared by Netflix Anime’s official account.
Along with the confirmation, J.C.Staff is also assured of returning, along with the previous cast and production staff. In addition, new characters will also appear, most notably Torajiro’s younger sister, Toraharu.
All is good as long as the Immortal Dragon returns with his household antics and unruly slice-of-life appeal, something fans can’t get enough of.

The Way Of The Househusband Season 2 Release Date
The Way of the Househusband Season 2 Release Date
Countdown to January 1, 2023 at 11:00 AM (UTC)
Confirmed
“What better way to start 2023?” the Twitter announcement said, and what better way indeed for the fans of The Way of the Househusband.
Netflix will unleash Tatsu’s second season on January 1, 2023, confirmed and announced by Netflix Anime’s official Twitter account on December 4, 2022.
And as a Netflix Original, The Way of the Househusband season 2’s episodes will be directly available for streaming.
And just like the previous trend, season 2 will come in two parts.
It should also be noted that The Way of the Househusband is an original net animation (ONA), having been directly released to the streaming public by Netflix.
The Way Of The Househusband Season Trailer
Although they have already unveiled a release date, J.C.Staff has yet to reveal a trailer or promotional video teaser; should it become available, expect to see it here.
In the meantime, please enjoy this full track of the first season’s opening theme, “Shufu no Michi.”
The song, sung by three-piece Jrock band Uchikubigokumon-Doukoukai, is honestly what you expect in an anime that features a badass former yakuza boss.
The Way Of The Househusband Story
The foremost practitioner of the way of the househusband is Tatsu, an infamous yakuza boss dreaded enough to gain the epithet “Immortal Dragon.”
Tatsu, who sits at the peak of his criminal career, suddenly retires from a life of crime to become a househusband.
He settles down and marries Miku, a career woman with a strong work ethic, who is also secretly an otaku obsessed with magical girl anime.
Both the manga and the anime are simple slice-of-life stories of the not-so-simple everyday life of the unlikely couple, depicted in short episodes.
Tatsu’s intimidating aura and appearance, contrasting with the mundane household work he seriously attends, are comedy gold.
His interactions and frequent run-ins with former yakuza associates and rivals are also knee-slappingly comical.
The Way Of The Househusband News
Before Netflix picked up the anime, The Way of the Househusband was adapted into a live-action TV drama in October 2020.
Motion comic videos were also produced to promote the release of the tankobon volumes of The Way of the Househusband manga, which Kousuke Oono authored.
It was from these motion comics that the current voice actor Kenjiro Tsuda started, which eventually led to him voicing Tatsu in the anime series.
Banking on the strength of the manga’s popularity, The Way of the Househusband became one of the most anticipated animes of 2021.
While the manga wormed its way to the hearts of comedy fans, unfortunately, the anime was heavily criticized due to animation being, well, not “animated.”
The manga’s readership must’ve pulled its weight, and, by the sheer power of its hopeful fanbase, a second season was confirmed and is now being produced.
Hopefully, J.C.Staff heard the people and will provide Tatsu and his life with an animation that is at least more animated than the manga, especially after they released an “anime opening” for the Crimecatch Policure.
For those who aren’t in the know, Crimecatch Policure is Miku’s favorite show.
In the video, which Netflix began streaming on December 24, 2022, the director of The Way of the Househusband, Chiaki Kon, herself sang the song; even the credits shown were real.
Funnily enough, the parody video also credited Toei Animation for “unofficial cooperation” (the animation studio produced the Precure franchise, which the video was parodying).
Here’s hoping that J.C.Staff injects the same quality and dedication to giving life to The Way of the Househusband.
